My Story

Last April, I was standing on the Embankment cheering on a friend running the marathon when I turned to my wife and said, 'I reckon I could do that.' She told me I was crazy. So applied to run the marathon on the spot.

There was only one charity I could think of applying to run for, which was Kidney Care UK. The month before, my dad was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. His kidneys aren't in good shape, and he's been told he’ll need to prepare for dialysis in the next few months.

I genuinely didn't think I was going to hear anything, but lo and behold, Kidney Care UK offered me a place. To be honest, I am still coming to terms with my dad's diagnosis and what will surely be some big changes for my family. But what started as a mad impulse to prove my wife wrong has turned into something much bigger.

Right now in the UK there are over 70,000 people being treated for kidney failure. Kidney Care UK exists to ensure that no one faces kidney disease alone. I aim to raise £5,000 to support their important work. Any donation, however small, is hugely appreciated.
