BACK TO LONDON

After eight years away, I am returning to the London Marathon.

8年ぶりに、私はロンドンマラソンへ帰ります。

Since 2010, I have been running marathons dressed as Jesus. In 2012, I took the next step and began running barefoot while carrying a cross. What started as a personal challenge became a way to inspire kindness, conversations and support for children around the world.

2010年から、私はイエス・キリストの姿でマラソンを走り続けてきました。そして2012年、さらに一歩踏み出し、十字架を背負い裸足で走るようになりました。

最初は自分自身への挑戦でした。しかしその挑戦は、世界中の人々に笑顔を届け、会話を生み、そして子どもたちを支援する活動へと変わっていきました。

Over the years I have completed six Tokyo Marathons, the New York City Marathon, the Berlin Marathon and five London Marathons.

これまでに東京マラソンを6回、ニューヨークシティマラソン、ベルリンマラソン、そしてロンドンマラソンを5回完走してきました。

Together with many wonderful supporters, we have raised and donated ¥400,000 for UNICEF Japan and more than £12,900 for children's charities, including Children in Crisis, St John Ambulance and Street Child. Every donation has been made possible by people who believed that every child deserves a brighter future.

多くの素晴らしい支援者の皆さまとともに、日本ユニセフ協会へ40万円、そして Children in Crisis、St John Ambulance、Street Child をはじめとする子どもたちを支援する慈善団体へ12,900ポンド以上の寄付を届けることができました。その一つひとつの寄付は、「すべての子どもにはより良い未来を築く権利がある」と信じてくださった皆さまのおかげです。

Then everything stopped.

しかし、そのすべてが突然止まりました。

The pandemic changed the world. Although I completed the 2020 Virtual London Marathon from Japan, I could not return to London. In 2021 I gave up my place because of travel restrictions, but I continued to support Street Child and always hoped that one day I would come back.

That day has finally arrived.

In 2027 I will proudly return to London as a Street Child Charity Runner.

I believe that education is the greatest gift we can give a child. It creates opportunity, hope and a future.

パンデミックは世界を大きく変えました。私は2020年のバーチャル・ロンドンマラソンを日本から完走しましたが、ロンドンへ行くことはできませんでした。2021年には渡航制限のため出場を断念しました。しかし、Street Childへの支援は続け、いつか必ずロンドンへ戻る日が来ることを信じ続けていました。

そして、その日がついにやってきました。

2027年、私は Street Child のチャリティーランナー として、誇りを胸にロンドンマラソンへ戻ります。

私は、教育こそ子どもたちに贈ることのできる最高の贈り物だと信じています。

教育は、可能性を生み、希望を育み、未来を切り拓きます。

Street Child works in some of the world's most challenging places, helping children stay safe, go to school and continue learning. In many communities, they are one of the very few organisations providing this support.

Street Child has the experience.
Street Child has the skills.
Street Child has the plan.

Now they need us.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps provide education and hope for children who need it most.

I will run 26.2 miles barefoot, carrying a cross.

Street Child は、世界でも特に厳しい環境で暮らす子どもたちが、安全に生活し、学校へ通い、学び続けられるよう支援しています。そして、多くの地域では、Street Child が唯一その活動を続けている団体でもあります。

Street Childには経験があります。

Street Childには知識があります。

Street Childには実現するための計画があります。

今、必要なのは私たちです。

皆さまからのご寄付は、その金額の大小に関わらず、最も支援を必要としている子どもたちへ教育と希望を届ける力になります。

私は26.2マイル（42.195km）を、裸足で、十字架を背負って走ります。

Not for a personal record.

Not for a medal.

But so that more children can have the opportunity to learn.
