My Story

Alright, I'm Kevin Crowe from Westoning. And I'm running the 2027 London Marathon for Luton Foodbank.

You might know me from real life or from my Luton Town blog Left Midfield, which appeared in the match day programme for a while, and followed the Hatters' rise from the football conference to the Premier League.

Supporting Luton Foodbank is really important to me. I now live in East London with my small family, but when the pandemic hit in 2020, I wanted to use the network I'd built up over the years through football to support the community where I grew up and where I still spend lots of my weekends supporting Luton.

Inspired by the Fans Supporting Foodbanks initiative in Liverpool, I decided to turn my blog into a book called These Are The Good Old Days and sold it in support of Luton Foodbank with donations from Town fans raising over £7k for the charity so far. At the same time, as is the cliché for a bloke trying to cope with his early 40s, I got into running and ran my first half marathon in 2025.

The book was an opportunity to bring together the thousands of fans around the world who care about the town to support an amazing local charity that is really helping people at their toughest time. Things aren’t getting any easier out there and supporting my marathon fundraiser is another opportunity for the Luton family near and far to come together for a vital cause.

Luton Foodbank is an independent charity fighting hunger and food poverty in Luton. In 2025 they reached 7,352 households, distributed over 260,000 food items, and responded to urgent need across every part of the town.

Throughout the year, their volunteers and staff spoke with parents who were in work yet unable to cover food costs, older residents asking for help for the first time in their lives and young people quietly carrying anxiety about household finances long before adulthood.

Emergency food remains essential. But food parcels alone cannot resolve the underlying conditions bringing people back through their doors. As a result, alongside emergency provision, Luton Foodbank has strengthened early intervention, expanded Food Clubs, invested in essential life skills, deepened outreach and continued to develop work with young people that builds resilience within families and communities.

Your donations are absolutely vital. Food poverty is becoming more entrenched, but Luton Foodbank demonstrates what is possible when support is designed around respect, choice and long-term stability.

Any donation, however large or small, will make a difference.

Thank you!
Kev
