My Story

In 2019 our lives changed forever when we lost our baby Meabh. It was an icredibly difficult time, and at times felt impossible to navigate. There seemed to be no end to the grief, and the sorrow felt like it would stay forever. But through the love and support of family and friends alogside theraputic support by Action Mental Health, colour and happiness began to return.

In Northern Ireland 1 in 5 adults will exeperience something that will effect their mental health and 1 in 4 couples will sadly experience baby loss. Thats why its important that we have places, people and organisations that help us mend our hearts and our heads. Offering support for those experienceing trauma, but also for those supporting someone through it.

I will be running the London 2027 marathon to raise awareness for Action Mental Health, an organisation that changes lives through counselling and mental health recovery services. Action Mental Health has a myriad of servcies to help mend our heads in times that are hard and is the flag bearer for smashing the stigma of Mental Health Illness.

Alongside this fundrasier I wanted to  create a space to help mend the heart.  So a memory garden is being designed at The Little Green Allotments Woodland. A peacefuel space designed for people to pause and reflect. Memories are among the most precious things we carry with us, they help guide us through darker days reminding us how fortunate we are to have loved something or someone that was special. Just as memories stay with us through every season of life, each flower that blooms in the garden will serve as a reminder of someone or something deeply loved and never forgotten.

The "Little Pink Bear" mascot is a tribute to a very special and dear friend. Maria brought comfort, kindness and smiles to many people through her knitted bears. It was her wise words, compassion and deep understanding that helped me through my own loss journey . Maria sadly passed away this year, so it only feels right that she continues to be part of this journey in her own spcial way, helping spread joy, comfort and hope to many along the way.

Every donation no matter how big or small will be so greatly appreciated. Every pound rasied  will help keep me motivated and focused as I begin my training this June. To keep updated on the gardens progress and for upcoming Fundraisers for London 2027 please follow
